『Song of Stars』is now available!

My new, kinda-unannounced-but-not-really project has been monopolizing my creative juices for a while, so I didn't think I could join the O2A2 VN jam this year, which would have sucked. It's not only my favorite VN jam, I have a streak to keep going!

Luckily, some late night browsing of the Rijksmuseum website sparked inspiration after days of languishing and looking at the counter go down.

The acronym O2A2 stands for Only One of Any Asset: only one sound effect is allowed, only one background, only one thousand words etc. The strict asset limitations are a self-imposed challenge: I need to make something respecting the rules and be happy enough with the final product to publish it.

Last year I made Obsession, an unsubtle metaphor inspired by an illustration by George Barbier. I chose another illustration of his this year, La Voie Lactée, which you can see below:

The woman on the right is in the company of someone, yet she looks so alone, looking for answers in the sky while being dismissed. The countless stars of the Milky Way in the background avoid her companion, yet not her. Why?

The juxtaposition between the two women and the stars intrigued me. Four days of work later, Song of Stars was born.
